Internal Slide Links in Converted PowerPoint Presentations

Within a PowerPoint Presentation, you may create an internal slide reference URL to navigate within any slide deck. This feature allows participant viewers to click to skip sections of the presentation, or click to go back and review sections within a PPTX slide deck, or just to go directly to a reference point of particular interest.

In order for these internal slide deck links to work within Adobe Connect version 10.6, they must be configured in a very specific manner: To make the internal slide links work, place them into a text box. You may still apply fonts and make them appear as though in a table or in a bulleted list by carefully creating, sizing and placing the text boxes.

Note: Another workaround to avoid this issue completely is to simply publish using the Adobe Presenter authoring tool; this issue only affects server-side conversion of PowerPoint decks.

  • Do not embed the internal slide deck links within rows in a PPTX table. If you put them into a table, they will not respond after conversion server-side:

  • Do not add internal slide deck links to a bulleted list on a content slide unless there is only one internal link. If you add multiple internal links to a bulleted list, they will all default to the last internal link in the bulleted list. For example; here I have seven internal Links in a bulleted list. After conversion each of them will point the user to the last ‘Resources’ internal slide URL even though when you mouse over the URLs, they show the correct target slide as with the ‘Encoding or re-encoding Video for use in Adobe Connect’ slide URL pictured below:

  • To make the internal slide links work, place them each into an individual text box. You may still apply fonts and make them appear as though in a table or in a bulleted list by carefully creating, sizing and manually placing the text boxes:

Another workaround to avoid this issue completely is to simply publish using the Adobe Presenter authoring tool; this issue only affects server-side conversion of PowerPoint decks.

The Adobe Connect engineering team is aware of this new conversion limitation and its required workaround and it is logged as escalation: CONN-4118184
