Error message: Entry Point Not Found – when launching the Adobe Connect Meeting Application
Error: Connect.exe – Entry Point Not Found
Cause: The procedure entry point cef_base64_decode could not be located in the dynamic link library …\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Connect\Connect.exe
This error occurs because an old or corrupted version of the Adobe Connect Meeting application is left over in your Windows user profile folder. When Windows tries to launch the Adobe Connect Meeting Application, it finds an older outdated or corrupted file instead of a correctly installed version.
Note: An interrupted push of the Adobe Connect Meeting Application using the MSI may cause this.
Simply reinstalling Adobe Connect does not always fix this, because the leftover file in your profile may not always be fully removed during a standard install.
Follow the steps below in order. You will need to close any open Adobe Connect Meeting services running. Right-click the Adobe Connect icon in your system tray (bottom-right corner of your taskbar) and select Quit or Exit. To make certain it is fully closed before continuing, it is prudent to use the Windows task manager to confirm nothing related to Adobe Connect is locked open.
- Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard at the same time. A small “Run” window will appear in the bottom-left corner of your screen.
- In the Run dialog, type the following exactly and press OK or Enter: %APPDATA%\Adobe\Connect You will see a folder called “Connect”. Right-click on it and select Delete. Confirm if prompted. This removes the outdated file causing the error.
- Open the Run dialog again (Windows key + R) and type the path below, then press OK. If there is a “Connect” folder here too, delete it the same way: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Adobe\Connect
- Reinstall the Adobe Connect Meeting Application
If this procedure fails to correct the issue, it may be related to your organization’s network profile settings and you may need to contact your IT support team and share the following information:
- Error message: “cef_base64_decode could not be located… Connect.exe”
- Location of the file:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Connect\Connect.exe
- Inform that you deleted the AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Connect and AppData\Local\Adobe\Connect folders, then reinstalled.
