Connect 9.1.2b on-premise – PDF conversion may fail

When uploading a PDF to a share pod in a meeting on an on-premise server version 9.1.2b on some installations the file cannot be converted.

In the access.log you get a message like this:

“Internal error ‘Pdf to swf conversion failed with return code -1073741515’ occured”

If you run into this problem please verify that you have the “Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)” installed on your server.

If it is not installed, install it from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555

Make sure to install the 32bit version even if you have a 64bit OS.

If the file still does not convert after successful upload to a meeting, please contact support.

We have Connect 9.12B on-premise. PDF files uploaded to Connect convert successfully. We have “Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package” installed on the Connect server. Should we install
“Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package” or not do anything?
    Thanks, Sergio

      Hi Sergio,
If the conversion works there’s no need to install the later package, however there might be other problems / security issues attached to using an older version of the package.
I am not aware of other possible problems though. It would do no harm if you installed the 2010 package.

      Kay
