Audio Not Working in Adobe Connect Meeting on Safari for Mac

Over the past couple of weeks, some customers have reported an issue affecting Mac users in Adobe Connect sessions. Specifically, instructors’ audio may not be heard when using Enhanced Audio/Video in Meeting Rooms, resulting in a complete loss of sound for participants joining via Safari on macOS.

We understand how critical uninterrupted audio is for Virtual Classrooms, Webinars, and Meetings; the following article describes how to resolve audio issues.

What Is the Issue?

Mac users joining Adobe Connect sessions through Safari may experience:

  • Complete loss of instructor audio
  • Audio/video streams not initializing properly
  • No clear prompt indicating a permissions issue

Importantly, this behavior appears to be specific to Safari on macOS and is not related to user configuration, device settings, or Adobe Connect room configuration.

Root Cause: Recent Safari Update

Our engineering team has identified the source of the issue.

A recent Safari browser update has changed how autoplay permissions are handled. This update has unintentionally affected Adobe Connect in its ability to:

  • Detect audio/video playback permissions
  • Automatically establish audio/video subscriptions

As a result, when users join a session using Safari, the system may not successfully initiate audio streams—even though everything appears normal in the interface.

This is not caused by instructor setup, account configuration, or Enhanced Audio settings.

Current Status

Our engineering team is actively working on a fix to restore full compatibility with Safari’s updated autoplay behavior.

We appreciate your patience as we collaborate to ensure seamless audio performance across all supported platforms.

Recommended Workarounds for an Immediate Solution

Until the code change is deployed, we strongly recommend the following alternatives for Mac users:

✅ Use Google Chrome

✅ Use Microsoft Edge

✅ Use the Adobe Connect CEF Desktop Application

These options are fully compatible with Enhanced Audio and are not affected by the Safari autoplay change.

For mission-critical sessions—such as live classes, compliance training, or high-attendance webinars—we recommend proactively advising Mac users to join using Chrome, Edge, or the Adobe Connect Meeting Application to ensure uninterrupted audio.
